Hinton Mills’ 37th annual Seed Days is a good time to purchase hay and pasture seed, as well as bale wrap and twine. Every farmer knows you’ve got to make hay while the sun shines, but in order to do that, you have to be ready. That way, when the sun does shine this summer, you can put up the best quality forage that will carry your livestock through the winter.
One of the hallmarks of Hinton Mills is the knowledgeable customer service at all of its locations. Stop by the store nearest you to talk with a team member about your goals for the upcoming year. Whether you’re interested in nutrient testing, renovating old pastures, making new hay ground, scheduling custom spraying or fertilizer application, or just need some quick advice, the Hinton Mills team is ready to help. Other items on sale during Seed Days will include fencing materials, hydraulic fluid, motor oil, dog food, high-mag mineral products, and waterers.
“We’re only successful if our customers are successful,” said Bud Hinton, President and CEO of Hinton Mills. “We spend a lot of time getting to know our customers and learning about their operations so we can make the right recommendations.”
Seed Days is also an opportunity for Hinton Mills to support the local FFA. On the day of each store’s Seed Days Event (see below for schedule), anyone who spends $50 or more will receive a free Hinton Mills hat. For each hat Hinton Mills gives away, they’ll still donate $1 to local FFA chapters, the same as they do for every item of Hinton Mills clothing they sell year-round. Since the beginning of their program, Hinton Mills has donated more than $30,000 to FFA.
In addition, a local FFA chapter will be serving lunch during each Hinton Mills Seed Days event for a suggested $2.00 donation per meal.
“The people who usually come to Seed Days events are strong FFA supporters,” said Hinton. “We thought they would appreciate the opportunity to let these chapters make a little money right before their FFA week celebrations.”
The Hinton Mills team also expects special guests to be on hand during Seed Days, include Miss Kentucky 2019 Alex Francke at Fleming County Farm Supply during lunch on Friday, Feb. 21. In addition, we expect Kenny Walker, the University of Kentucky’s second all-time leading scorer to make a surprise appearance during lunch one day. You never know who might stop by Seed Days.
The Seed Days customer appreciation events will be held during store hours at Jabetown Mill on Thursday, February 20th ; Fleming County Farm Supply on Friday, Feb.21; and Frank Hinton & Son on Saturday, Feb. 22.
