This year we also asked our Facebook followers to share with us their love of ornaments and what their favorite one was, below are the responses. Jane Caudill was drawn at random for a prize for this contest.
Tisha Emmons—My favorite ornament(s) there are two. They are identical snowmen glass balls with hats that have my daughter’s names given to me by Debbie McCord. The girls were young at the time and I have always treasured them.
Tonya France Mattox—I have had this one since I was a little girl. Just reminds me of coming home on Christmas Eve from grandmas looking for Santa.
Kelsey Jade Jolley—My favorite Christmas ornament is very special. My husband and have made ornaments every year since we delivered our first born baby which is going to be five this year! This is a special tradition that we do every year now. It’s a clear ornament with all of our names and what year it is on it. We now have three kids! Also my first very own ornament given to me by my five year old that he made at church!
Chelsea Mitchell—Our family loves ornaments, every year we buy a new one for each member of our household! My favorite ornaments are the handmade ones by my 8 and three-year old.
Becky Stanfield Fryman—My favorite ornaments are all the ones my two boys have made me with their sweet little hands!! I wouldn’t trade them for any other ornament in the world!
Jane Caudill—My favorite ornament is a tiny Angel given to me by my granddaughter when she was in the first grade Kelsey Jolley who is now 24 years old. I was also love one given to me by Roxie Crowe of the Sherburne bridge
Sharon Johnson I have an old paint peeling glass ornament that belonged to my mother. I lost her right before my 17th birthday. I cherish it! I took it from a box of Christmas stuff before I left my childhood home forever later that year. My mother loved Christmas and made it about the birth of Christ, not the gifts, and asked us to give to others at Christmas. I always hang it at the top of the tree to remind me what Christmas is truly about!
Debbie McCord—All my family and close friends knows how much I cherish my Christmas ornaments. It is difficult to choose just one, so I will tell you about my favorite ornaments. My mother let me choose a couple of ornaments a few years before she passed away and I chose two bell ornaments that were green and pink. She told me that I chose the two that were not very pretty, but had a lot of meaning to her. They were ornaments that she had at home as a child. I didn’t hang them on my tree for a while, until the first Christmas when she was gone. Now each and every year, I will always place them on my tree where I can sit and look at them. I also have an ornament that I had gotten for my granddaughter, Haley. It was Bambi and a Christmas tree. We always watched Bambi together and she brought it back to me and said “Mamaw , I want you to put this on your tree because you love Bambi so much” I thought that was the sweetest thing and I will always remember her telling me that in her sweet voice as a little girl! I also had a friend that gave me an ornament this year with a picture of my mom on it! She has given me several over the years, but this one will always be close to my hear. Thanks Tisha!
Oh, the memories I have when I open my ornaments each year. I cherish each and everyone of them and I can tell you a story about each one. Oh, the memories,... thank God for our precious memories! Merry Christmas Everyone!
